A&S Classes/Workshops:
The Shire's Monthly A&S Class is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month at the Ryan's, on Brown's Bridge Rd (Hwy 369) just west of McEver Rd (Hwy 53) in Gainesville. We have a private dining room. Come early and have dinner, most members arrive between 6:30 and 7:00. This is a great way to meet the members and to learn about what we do. The public is always welcome to attend our meetings and classes. Meetings are usually come as you are, not in garb. Check the Shire's Calendar for other meeting times and watch the Shire's Yahoo Group for meeting changes.

Upcoming Classes

Date @ Time May 15, 2008 @ 7:30 PM (Dinner from 6:30 - 7:30)
Location Ryan's in Gainesville
Class Panel Discussion - The Role of Royalty in the SCA (and Opportunities for the Shire of Beau Fort to interact and participate with Them)
Description       We have a learned panel of experts leading the discussion - Our own Mistress Ginevra (who has first hand and recent experience being part of the Royal Entourage, Master Cathal (who is also His Excellency, Baron of the South Downs) and Master Hywel (former Baron of Bryn Madoc and former Beacon Principal Herald).

We will learn the customs and "rules" for interacting with Royalty, both at others' Events and hosting Them at our events. Specifically, we will learn what actions are "expected" and what are "nice add ons". How do we prepare for Court and Feast when the Crown is present? When are gifts appropriate? What kinds of gifts are most needed and appreciated? What goes on behind the scenes? What is the "work" of the Crown? How are their travels and activities funded? Again, how can we help?

If time permits, we will also discuss Royal Peers and Peers of the Realm (Knights, Laurels and Pelicans) - how to address and interact them them. This will be an exciting class, and one that will enrich our SCA experience.

Please make your plans now to attend!

For more information, questions, directions, suggestions for classes or if you'd like to volunteer to teach a class. Please contact our A&S officer, Lady Meleri verch Adam via e-mail by sending a message to arts@beaufortsca.org.
